Eliza Kingsford, LPC is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in weight management, body image and eating disorders. In her new book, Brain-Powered Weight Loss, Eliza outlines her behavior-based plan that ends overeating and leads to dropping unwanted pounds for good. This holistic approach to weight loss is the same she uses as Executive Director of Wellspring Camps, weight loss camps for children, teens and young adults, and member of the RiverMend Health family. A nationally certified counselor, certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor and long-time athlete, Eliza Kingsford became passionate about combining therapeutic intervention, nutrition and exercise early on in her graduate studies at the University of Colorado. After completing her graduate degree, Eliza Kingsford worked extensively with eating disorder clients and found a passion for treating those struggling with weight management issues.
In Eliza’s years of hands-on clinical experience, she has worked on various eating disorder treatment teams, in coaching and agency settings, and has served as a consultant for obesity treatment research. Obesity rates are currently at the highest level in history, and prevention-only programs are simply not enough to help the millions who are already struggling with being overweight or obese. As Executive Director for Wellspring Camps, Eliza works with participants’ ages five and up to provide weight management solutions throughout their lifespan. Eliza’s current work allows her to train other clinicians in this field, and help develop their passion and strengths. An experienced speaker and presenter on subjects pertaining to obesity and weight management for children, teens and young adults, Eliza has appeared on various national television shows such as Dr. Phil, Dr. Drew, CNN Health and Dr. Oz, as well as national conferences and workshops such as the Obesity Action Coalition, and in various print publications including Healthy Mom’s Magazine and Your Weight Matters Magazine.
A member of the Obesity Action Coalition, Eliza is passionate about changing health reform to include better treatment options for obesity. Eliza lives with her husband and baby girl in Boulder, CO. She teaches a variety of fitness classes when she is not traveling for work.
